Site History

How & When?
It started around August 2005 when I began to work on the site. I have thought about making a Nicky site before but I thought I wouldn't have the time for it. I have had a Westlife site in 2004 and it's closed because of that reason. But I just like webdesign and on rainy Sunday I suddenly felt like making a site about Nicky.
When the site was almost finished I needed to find a good free host. One of my other sites was hosted at Free-Webspace.biz. They offer 255mb and unlimited bandwidth so I got the site hosted there.

At that time I didn't have a name for the site yet (I'm not good with names). With a bit of help the name Nicky Up Close came out of it.

I opened the site on the 9th October 2005. I didn't plan to open it on Nicky's birthday but I finished a big part of the site just before that day.

At the end of the year I got a little bit tired of Free-Webspace because of all the pop-ups and I had to update the site online which is really annoying. I decided to search for a good paid host. I found lots of good hosts but I thought Neostrada was the best so I bought some webspace and a domain name. Nicky-Byrne.com was born!

The site has had different looks. Click here for the past layouts. I still have a lot to learn about webdesign and I'm trying my best! I'm very happy about the site at the moment and I hope to be online for a long time!

Why?
As I told you before I like web design and I've had a Westlife site back in 2004. I really tried my best but around that time there were so many good Westlife sites. It was just difficult to get peoples attention (specially when it's hosted at a free host which means annoying pop ups and not being able to use PHP). And after some time I got bored with the site so that's a reason for me not to start a group site again.

It's obvious that Nicky's my favourite of Westlife, otherwise I wouldn't have made a site about him. Shane used to be my favourite for 5 whole years though but since 2004 Nicky started to catch my eye and became my fave. He still is now. I think he's really talented. I love his voice although it's not the strongest in the group. But you can definitely hear that his voice has grown. Besides that I just enjoy hearing him sing. It makes me calm. Also hearing him talk is pleasant. I also think he's the best dancer of Westlife and the nicest. Well he's been the nicest of all during meetings (have to say this: Shane's really nice too). Not saying that the other two aren't. I'm just talking about my experience when meeting them.
Furthur I think he's funny, is good in entertaining people and let's not forget that he's extremely good looking.

Reason enough to start a fansite about him? I thought so too;)
